Free Seminar: Resources for Caregivers
Description
Are you caring for an aging or disabled family member? Or maybe you’re an older adult yourself and are preparing for the years ahead? Join us for an insightful and empowering seminar designed to provide guidance and resources for families navigating the challenges of aging and disability.
Seminar topics will include:
- Hosting a Multi-Generational Family Finance Summit: Seth Cromer of Hendricks County Wealth Advisors will be discussing the importance of multigenerational planning to ensure financial stability, clear expectations, and well-coordinated long-term care across family members. By proactively addressing these topics, families can reduce conflict, preserve wealth, and provide better support for aging loved ones. Attendees will learn practical strategies for initiating meaningful conversations and creating comprehensive plans that align values and responsibilities across generations.
- Understanding Dementia and Cognitive Changes: Helee Adkins, a Health Benefits Specialist with Adkins Consulting, will explain the difference between normal aging and dementia to help families better recognize cognitive changes. She will share practical caregiving tips, including communication strategies and common pitfalls to avoid. Attendees will also receive helpful resources and encouragement to remind them they are not alone in their caregiving journey.
- Support for Caregivers: Across every stage of life, and especially when disabilities are involved, caregivers play a vital role in ensuring dignity, independence, and quality of life. Yolanda Kincaid, CEO of Sycamore Services, will talk about their mission to support individuals of all abilities as well as the caregivers who walk alongside them every day.
- Estate Planning Concerns: Almost anyone can benefit from having control over what happens to their assets when they’re gone. An effective estate plan can help ensure that a person's wishes are carried out correctly, and that the financial needs of surviving family members will be taken care of. Jennifer Durham, attorney at the Law Office of Jennifer Durham, will discuss the basics of estate planning and what to consider when creating a plan for your own or a loved one's assets.
